Last Sunday, an editorial criticizing the United States presence and ongoing mission in Iraq was published in The New York Times. The letter was written by seven soldiers currently serving in Iraq.

Phillip Carter of the online magazine Slate says this editorial is unique, in that it was penned by active-duty troops without any clearance from their superiors.
