It's August, and lots of people are shedding clothes. But when world leaders do it, photographers take note. Vladimir Putin stripped to the waist while fishing in a Russian stream, setting off a feeding frenzy in the tabloids. And French President Nicolas Sarkozy's shirtless canoe trip in New Hampshire was chronicled by Paris Match magazine, which broke out the air-brush to trim his love handles. Sarkozy's office says he did not ask the magazine to do that.

Sarkozy's office says he did not ask the magazine to help him shed some pounds.
It's MORNING EDITION.
