Tampa Scraps Face-Scanning Program
Robert Siegel talks to Captain Bob Guidara, spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department, about the failure of a security surveillance system two years ago. Cameras scanned the Ybor City section of town, capturing images of faces and comparing them with a database of 30,000 mug shots of fugitives, runaway children and sexual predators. The system worked when tested but failed in the field. Guidara says the system is out, but the cameras will remain.
