'Jones Report' Offers New Insight for Analysts

text sizeAAA
September 6, 2007

Thursday's so-called "Jones Report," an analysis of Iraqi security forces commissioned by Congress, details "uneven progress."

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Robert Scales says the best finding in the report comes with its contrasting assessments of Iraq's police and military forces. And he praises the panel appointed by Congress to assess those forces, saying it produced a "very balanced" and "fair" report after having had extensive access to security operations there.

Scales, co-author of The Iraq War: A Military History and former commandant of the Army War College, talks with Melissa Block.
