What Makes Us Itch?

It's well known that mosquito bites and poison ivy cause itching, but some serious illnesses — including kidney failure and HIV — can also send a person scratching. An international meeting on itch just ended; we'll talk with one of its organizers about what makes us itch and how to make it stop.
