Donna Newman is among many lawyers who argued cases before Michael Mukasey when he was a federal judge — she represented Jose Padilla, the American once classified as an enemy combatant. Newman says Mukasey, the nominee to be the next U.S. attorney general, is an independent thinker who will bring integrity to the office.

Mukasey can also be intolerant of people who are unprepared, as Newman told NPR's Steve Inskeep.
