Proposed Federal Program Raises Nuclear Fears

As Congress reviews a new energy bill, some scientists worry that a provision in the legislation could compromise national security. The proposal is to fund international research on extracting plutonium from spent nuclear fuel rods. Critics say that could help foreign nations build nuclear weapons.
