Mystery writer and feminist literary critic Carolyn Heilbrun has died at the age of 77, an apparent suicide. She's better known by her pseudonym, Amanda Cross — the author of a series of murder mysteries that feature a woman detective who, like Heilbrun, was a professor of English. NPR's John Ydstie reports.
