Writer: Steroids Can be Safe
NPR's Michele Norris talks with Stuart Stevens, author of the article "Drug Test" in the November issue of Outside magazine. Stevens spent eight months using performance-enhancing drugs under the supervision of a doctor. Stevens is an amateur cyclist, and says that the drugs he took, including human growth hormones and steroids, enhanced his overall cycling performance -- though not without side effects.
