NPR's Steve Inskeep comments on remarks made today by Gene Robinson, the first openly gay cleric to be appointed and confirmed as a bishop in the Episcopal Church. Robinson said he agonizes over the turmoil he's caused his church, but he believes God wants him to go forward. Robinson is to be consecrated Nov. 2. His appointment has raised the specter of schism within the Anglican community.
