James Lee Burke: 'Last Car to Elysian Fields'
Latest Novel Part of Dave Robicheaux Crime Detective Series
Listen: Web Extra: Listen to an extended version of Alex Chadwick's interview with James Lee Burke
Writer James Lee Burke says America's Southern roots are a road map for the country's future. Maybe that's why his crime fiction series -- based in Louisiana's Cajun country -- has been so popular nationwide.
Burke's latest novel is Last Car to Elysian Fields, part of the Dave Robicheaux crime detective series. He tells NPR's Alex Chadwick that even though he has been writing novels since the mid-1960s, he's still contemplating just what makes a good book.
