NPR's Liane Hansen speaks with Alfred Lubrano, author of the new book Limbo: Blue Collar Roots, White Collar Dreams, which focuses on white-collar children of blue-collar parents. Lubrano calls them "straddlers," who follow what can sometimes be a very difficult path away from the family and into an unfamiliar and often uncomfortable world. Lubrano has been a commentator for Weekend Edition since 1992.
