Thousands Flee Burning California Mountain Towns

Firefighters make progress containing wildfires in some areas of southern California while the flames gain strength in others. Santa Ana winds whip up flames near San Diego county and northern Los Angeles. The death toll climbs to 16. Tens of thousands more people evacuate mountain towns ahead of advancing flames. NPR's Carrie Kahn reports.
