Calif. Town Bans Smoking on Beach

Solana Beach, Calif., becomes the first town in the continental United States to ban cigarette smoking at the beach, an effort aimed in part at curbing litter from butts. Local officials say the impetus for the new law came not from public health activists but from high school students. Kenny Goldberg of member station KPBS reports.
