Gertrude Ederle, Trailblazing Swimmer, Dies at 98

Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to successfully swim across the English Channel, has died at the age of 98. Ederle swam the channel in 1926, crossing in a recorded time of 14 hours and 31 minutes. The New York-born Ederle died Sunday in New Jersey. NPR's Melissa Block talks with Bob Dunkel, executive director of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
