Ten years ago Monday, the lead singer of the rock band Nirvana committed suicide. Kurt Cobain was just 27, but was an international celebrity and an icon of the so-called "grunge" sound. Some of the band's fans share their memories of the musician's life and death with Day to Day.

Nirvana's Bleach (reissued this month) didn't make much of a splash when it was released in 1989. But with hindsight, the album shows a band clearly hurtling toward greatness. A mere two years later, Nirvana headlined England's Reading Festival; by then, the greatness was obvious.
