NPR's Scott Simon talks with former New York Police Department Detective Thomas Jacobellis. In 1983, someone stole his sea-foam-green 1968 Mercury Cougar from his driveway. Thanks to a clumsy criminal and some tenacious Cougar lovers, the 20-year-old case has been solved. As soon as the car is no longer needed as evidence, Jacobellis hopes to restore it from his home in Florida.
