Thurmonds Acknowledge Mixed-Race Woman

The family of late Sen. Strom Thurmond issues a statement saying the family "acknowledges" 78-year-old Essie Mae Washington Williams' claim to the family's heritage. Williams, a mixed-race woman born out of wedlock, has long been thought to be the daughter of Thurmond; her mother was a black woman who once worked at the Thurmond house. NPR's David Welna reports.
