'Redacted' Producer Blocks Real, Horrifying Images

text sizeAAA
October 23, 2007

Director Brian DePalma's latest effort is embroiled in controversy on two fronts.

The first is that the film, Redacted, is a fictional version of a real event in Iraq: the rape of a 14-year-old girl who was subsequently murdered along with her family.

Also, the movie has been redacted by the producer. The film ends with a horrifying montage of real photos of dead and wounded Iraqis, and the movie studios insisted that their eyes and identifying features be blacked out.
