The Washington National Cathedral here normally echoes to the sounds of its 4800-pipe organ, or the celestial voices of its cathedral choirs. But during a recent concert, music heard inside the historic house of worship boasted a uniquely different sound.

The gathering, "Pray for Peace," focused on a single message: a plea to end war and violence. Communities of faith assembled for a night of inter-faith prayer and music. The audience was treated to performances by the likes of Jackson Brown, Graham Nash, David Crosby, and Keb' 'Mo.

Before the night's performance, Michel Martin visited the Cathedral. In this week's Faith Matters, Grammy Award-winning bluesman Keb' Mo' and Graham Nash — of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Crosby, Stills & Nash — are joined by the Rev. Samuel Lloyd III, Dean of the Washington National Cathedral. They explain the intent behind "Pray for Peace" and how the coupling of music and faith is instrumental to their message.
