Sterling Speirn, the president of the Peninsula Community Foundation, spends his days raising money from the wealthy in the San Francisco Bay area and giving it away to a variety of groups in the community. He's good at it: in the past decade, the foundation's assets have gone from $44 million to $500 million. Laura Sydell profiles Speirn.
