Commentator Andrei Codrescu hears that Internet startups are like rock bands — a dream of powerless youth.

He remembers that once upon a time, stand-up comedy served the same purpose. And in Codrescu's youth, it was poetry.

But he laments the fact that today's Web sites are part of the mainstream. He says the rebellion is blunted.
