Thune to Challenge Daschle for Senate Seat

Former U.S. Rep. John Thune of South Dakota, a Republican, announces he will run against Sen. Tom Daschle, the South Dakotan who serves as Senate Democratic leader. Thune, a leading ally of President Bush, is popular in the conservative state; he lost a 2002 Senate bid against Sen. Tim Johnson by just over 500 votes. Hear NPR's David Welna.
