About 800 firefighters are at work Wednesday trying to contain the destructive Taylor Bridge fire. It’s burning in central Washington near the town of Cle Elum.
The blaze has grown to more than 22,000 acres since it started Monday. High winds and dry conditions have been making it spread.
Bruce Livingston with the Washington Department of Natural Resources says cool temperatures and humidity overnight slowed the blaze down but it’s still far from contained.
“Fire’s picking up again a little bit because daytime, warmer temperatures, lower humidity. There is a some steep ground so fire tends to burn uphill.”
The fire has burned 60 structures, though no injuries have been reported.
