Oren Gradus and Ana Maria Martinez as Leporello and Elvira
Brett Coomer

The title character in Mozart's Don Giovanni pursues his love life with boundless energy — and no scruples whatsoever. One of his recent conquests, the lovesick Donna Elivra, tracks him down and demands that he live up to his empty promises of true love and fidelity. It's left to Giovanni's manservant Leporello to break Elvira's heart all over again, by singing the "Catalog Aria" — a graphic outline of the Don's amorous adventures, which include a list of 1003 lovers in Spain alone! In Houston Grand Opera's production of the opera, baritone Oren Gradus plays Leporello.
