Commentary: A Med Student's Memory
Commentator Joe Wright is studying to be a doctor. His grandfather was a postal clerk, and it was his job to sort the mail before there were ZIP codes. He had memorized train schedules and geography, and knew which train to send each piece of mail on so that it would get there the fastest. Wright says when he gets frustrated with all of the memorization involved in learning to become a doctor, he is reminded of his grandfather, sorting the mail.
