NPR's Melissa Block talks with Tim Markle, meteorologist at the Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire, 6,288 feet above sea level — the highest point in New England. The temperature there Thursday afternoon was 34 degrees below zero, with winds gusting at 73 mph.
