Female Singer's TV Spot Roils Afghans Old footage of a popular entertainer named Salma was shown recently on Afghan television, breaking a long-time ban on appearances by female singers -- and outraging Muslim traditionalists. The Supreme Court of Afghanistan promptly reinstated the ban. NPR's Guy Raz reports.
