Norman Mailer on Being 'Hip'
Mark Anthony Neal remembers Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Norman Mailer, who died over the weekend at age 84. Mailer's essay, "The White Negro," shook up the cultural landscape.
Neal is professor of African and African American Studies at Duke University. His latest book is New Black Man: Rethinking Black Masculinity.
