Wash. Governor Candidates To Meet For Fourth Debate

The candidates for Washington governor will debate Thursday night following the vice-presidential face-off. This will be the fourth of five scheduled debates between Republican Rob McKenna and Democrat Jay Inslee.
This is an unusual debate in that it will air on four Seattle area TV stations and one regional cable network. The sponsors call it an unprecedented partnership among media rivals.
The candidates will face a panel of local television news personalities, but the moderator, just call him professor. He’s Glenn Johnson who teaches communications at Washington State University.
In previous debates, Inslee and McKenna have sparred over taxes, Medicaid expansion and how best to get Washingtonians back to work.
Recent polls have shown Republican McKenna trailing Democrat Inslee slightly. McKenna must woo a healthy contingent of President Obama supporters if he’s to win. Inslee has the challenge of winning over independent-minded swing voters who might be inclined to split their ticket.
