U.S. to Open Military Airspace for Holiday Travel

President Bush announces a plan to ease flight delays and congestion for Thanksgiving by opening military airspace along the East Coast. That will create a five-day "Thanksgiving Express Lane." This year, the airline industry's on-time performance has been the worst in more than a decade. The president also proposed doubling passengers' compensation if they are bumped from flights. But that won't happen until next summer at the earliest.
