What began as a purveyor of electronic rock and pop instrumentals turned into a full-on band when Broken Social Scene members Amy Millan and Evan Cranley joined Stars. After a pair of albums that showcased an assortment of fizzy pop, the Canadian group experienced a breakthrough with 2005's powerful Set Yourself on Fire, which chronicled relationships in turmoil. The disc was later remixed track-for-track by the band's peers on this spring's Do You Trust Your Friends?.

The new In Our Bedroom After the War finds singers Torquil Campbell and Millan singing uncommonly sensitive songs about love, war and the way the two intersect. With airy melodies and somber lyrics, the disc makes powerful statements about the way the personal and the political can be interchangeable.
