Putin in Control as Russian Vote Looms

Russia is preparing for presidential elections on March 14, and polls show President Vladimir Putin with a commanding lead. The lack of substantial opposition -- and earlier crackdowns on political opponents -- is worrisome to observers who would prefer more Western-style democracy in Russia.
