Cingular Wins Bidding War for AT&T Wireless

Cingular Wireless early Tuesday placed a winning bid to acquire AT&T Wireless for $41 billion in cash. The announcement came just after Britain's Vodafone Group dropped out of the bidding war. If approved, the merger will create the largest cellular service provider in the United States. Hear NPR's Bob Edwards and Scott Cleland, a telecom analyst with the Precursor Group.
