Thailand Celebrates King's 80th Birthday

Thailand celebrates the 80th birthday of its king. The birthday party comes just weeks before Thailand elects a new civilian government, a year after its last prime minister was ousted in a military coup. King Bhumibol Adulyadej gave a speech urging the country to resolve its differences.

About 10,000 people gathered in Bangkok to honor the world's longest-reigning monarch, an incredibly beloved figure in Thailand. Recently he made fashion news by sparking a craze for pink shirts. After a hospital stay, the king left in a pink shirt and blazer. Royal astrologers told him the color was good for his health.
