When the Grammy Awards are handed out for the 50th time Feb. 10, they'll honor a cross-section of best-sellers, venerated veterans, tabloid sensations and up-and-comers. Nominees, announced Thursday, include hip-hop star Kanye West (leading the field with eight nominations) and neo-soul sensation Amy Winehouse (six).

West's Graduation and Winehouse's Back to Black are both nominated for Album of the Year, along with three comparative surprises: the rock band Foo Fighters (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace), country stalwart Vince Gill (These Days) and jazz favorite Herbie Hancock (River: The Joni Letters). Best New Artist nominees include Feist, Ledisi, Paramore and Taylor Swift, in addition to Winehouse.

Here's a look at the nominees in some key categories. For a full list of nominations in all 110 categories, visit the Grammys' Web site.
