Court: States Can Deny Aid for Religious Study

The U.S. Supreme Court rules that states may withhold taxpayer-funded scholarships from students studying theology. The 7-2 ruling marks a departure from recent fights on the separation of church and state, in which the Supreme Court has allowed for greater state sponsorship of religious activities.
