Martha Stewart's attorney says Stewart and her stockbroker, Peter Bacanovic, were too smart to have taken part in the insider trading cover-up the government has accused them of. Lawyer Robert Morvillo argued that differing timelines and other inconsistencies put forth by Stewart and Baconovic prove their innocence of the conspiracy charges.
