'Sweeney,' Bloody Glorious on Stage and Screen

Tim Burton's dark new Sweeney Todd is filled with grit, violence and transcendent music — just like the stage musical it's based on. NPR critic Bob Mondello says there are some differences, too.

But movies tell stories differently than stage plays do, and in the end, says our expert, this version works pretty well.
