NPR's Madeleine Brand speaks with Slate contributor Phillip Carter about the recent conference of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, known as DARPA. Carter described some of the agency's latest projects, including methods to improve soldiers' language skills and a pill that soldiers would take in lieu of eating.
