The Swimmers: 'Heaven' The Swimmers' first full length from Mad Dragon records, called 'Fighting Trees,' is infused with the spirit of catchy, upbeat '60s-inspired rock. The songs are simple, melodic and sweet without being mawkish. It's a fun sound with bright keyboard riffs and a thin layer of harmonies between front man Steve Yutzy-Burkey and his wife, keyboardist Krista Yutzy-Burkey.

This Philly quartet will make you dance.

The Swimmers' first full length from Mad Dragon records, called 'Fighting Trees,' is infused with the spirit of catchy, upbeat '60s-inspired rock. The songs are simple, melodic and sweet without being mawkish. It's a fun sound with bright keyboard riffs and a thin layer of harmonies between front man Steve Yutzy-Burkey and his wife, keyboardist Krista Yutzy-Burkey.

Steve Yutzy-Burkey has a slightly raspy, mellow voice set against jangly guitars on the featured track, "Heaven." Staccato rhythms lay the foundation for hard-to-resist head-bopping, toe-tapping bliss. It's straightforward, sunny indie-pop laced with nostalgic songwriting.

The band has a diverse background in music: frontman Steve Yutzy-Burkey is a self-taught guitarist while bassist Rick Sieber idolized Paul McCartney. Drummer Scott French role-played Run-DMC and Rikki Rockett from Poison with his brother. They each share a love for The Kinks, The Beatles and The Zombies, which is easily heard on almost every song.

The Swimmers hope to "give people things to hold their interest at a lot of different levels" in their upcoming March tour to promote Fighting Trees. The band has already developed a strong following — a good sign for a group that leaves their success "up to the audience."
