Algeria to Hold Presidential Election

Algeria holds national elections Thursday, in what is being called the first fully democratic choosing of the country's leader. Five opposition candidates are challenging the incumbent president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has provided stability in recent years. Bouteflika's main challenger is Ali Benflis, his former prime minister. NPR's Sylvia Poggioli reports.
