Ruben Studdard's Big Career

American Idol veteran Ruben Studdard is an unlikely candidate for a recording contract. He's not buff and glamorous, but his latest single — "Sorry 2004" — is currently ninth on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Studdard is from Birmingham, Ala., where his mother is a second grade teacher and his father teaches auto body and collision technology. NPR's Elizabeth Blair speaks with Studdard.
