A Curtain Call for the Early Music Vocal Ensemble
Anonymous 4 in NPR's Studio 4A.
Detail from the CD cover for 'American Angels.'
After 18 years as a quartet, the early music vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 is retiring. Marsha Genensky, Susan Hellauer, Jacqueline Horner and Johanna Marie Rose are currently performing their last concerts and making their last recordings as a group.
Fortunately, one stop the farewell tour was NPR's Studio 4A, where they spent an hour with Performance Today host Fred Child singing music from their newest CD, American Angels: Hope, Redemption & Glory and talking about their years together and what's next for each of them. The playlist of the performance is below.
- "The Morning Trumpet"
- "Amazing Grace" (quiet version)
- "Amazing Grace" (lively version)
- "Sweet Hour of Prayer"
- "Wondrous Love"
- "Shall We Gather at the River"
- "Abbeville"
- "Sweet By and By"
- "Angel Band"
