Seeking to mollify an angry girlfriend, Sammy Zabib of New York drove to Atlantic City to buy her the designer jeans she had spotted earlier. While waiting for the store to open, he played some slots — and hit for $800,000. Then he bought the jeans.
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
A New York man named Sammy Zabib got his girlfriend mad. She spotted some designer jeans in a boutique inside an Atlantic City casino. Zabib forgot to buy them. So one day, he got up early and drove back to Atlantic City. He played some slots while he waited for the store to open. And he hit a jackpot, winning $800,000. Once he was done collecting the cash, Mr. Zabib went on to buy the jeans that his girlfriend had demanded.
