Gauguin Tahiti, an exhibition of Paul Gauguin's work during his years in the South Pacific, continues to draw crowds to Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. Gauguin was known as a great painter, but he also developed a reputation for sexual misconduct. French and American experts disagree about whether assessments of his legacy should account for this reputation, or if the focus should be on his art alone. David D'Arcy reports.
