Negroponte Up for Iraq Diplomat Spot

Veteran diplomat John Negroponte will face enormous challenges if he is confirmed as the U.S. ambassador to Iraq. Negroponte headed two large embassies in the past, in Mexico and the Philippines. He also worked at the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, which coordinated its actions with those of the military during the Vietnam War. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee holds confirmation hearings Tuesday. NPR's Michele Kelemen reports.
