King of Prussia is a 5-piece group that dispenses twee-pop with sweet harmonies, ringing guitars and infectious melodies. The band has just released its debut LP, Save the Scene. It's a trippy collection of songs with elements of '60s folk rock. A part of the thriving music scene in Athens, GA., King of Prussia is signed to the newly reformed Kindercore label. The group is led by Brandon Hanick, who sings with a faux-British accent, drawing comparisons to one of the band's main influences, Belle and Sebastian.
Save the Scene is layered with staccato guitars and rhythms set against dreamy harmonies, vintage synths and sometimes comical narratives. On the featured track "Misadventures of the Campaign Kids," Hanick sings, "Patriots protecting all our sons, getting evil doers done / Tony Danza's on the run."
King of Prussia has a few tour dates planned around the south for the spring, along with a SXSW Kindercore Records showcase in March.
