Democratic Sen. John Kerry has already spent $1 million on television ads in Colorado. The state normally votes Republican in presidential elections, but about a third of registered voters are not affiliated with a political party. In a general election many expect to be extremely close, Democrats hope to win over many of Colorado's independent voters. Hear NPR's Jeff Brady.
