Mark Mooney is a folk singer from Santa Cruz, Calif. with a voice unique enough to stand out in a crowded field of singer-songwriters. His latest CD, recorded and self-released under under the name Mooney, is The Beginning of Again. It's a soothing and cinematic collection of folk songs that are heartfelt and passionate without being mawkish, and poetic without relying on cliches and tired themes.

One of the highlights of the album, "Misty Morning Dew," casts lush, organic imagery with Mooney's soft, high voice, guitar drones, marimba and mellotron. Atmospheric and rhythmic, the music is a mesmerizing to Mooney's storytelling.

With two albums under his belt, Mooney plans to expand his fanbase with an upcoming European tour in the spring and three days at RMA's Music United festival in June 2008.
